A person has died after being hit by the truck at the intersection of The Strand and Tamaki Drive in Parnell just before 5.30am.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a truck in central Auckland this morning.

Police said the person was hit by the truck at the intersection of The Strand and Tamaki Drive in Parnell just before 5.30am.

The truck was travelling from the nearby Ports of Auckland.

The serious crash unit is investigating.

The scene had been cleared and traffic was now flowing freely, NZTA advised.
