Levin police are searching for balaclava-clad man who robbed a dairy at knifepoint.

The man pulled out a knife and demanded money from a shop attendant after entering the Tiro Tiro Road Dairy in Levin about 8.10pm on Thursday.

The man left on foot with an undisclosed sum of money. The man is described as Maori, aged 20 to 30, and about 172cm tall.

He was wearing a grey-green jacket and light-blue jeans and had a black bag.

Levin police are appealing for witnesses to the aggravated robbery.
