Police are concerned about a 70-year-old Petone man who has been missing since Sunday morning.
Tupulaga Talalelei, also known as Peter, was discharged from Hutt Hospital on Saturday at about 7pm and remains missing, police said.
It was thought that he had returned to his home in Petone but he has not been seen since.
Police investigating the disappearance say he was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning at the boarding house in upper Jackson Street where he was living.
Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said today that there were continued concerns for Talalelei's welfare because of his age and medical needs which means he needs regular supervision.
Police have been searching around the boarding house and surrounds but so far have not found him.
Though Talalelei was known to occasionally use public transport he had trouble walking unaided and largely kept to himself so it was thought unlikely he had gone far, Ferguson said.
"His disappearance is just a mystery at the moment, it's out of character for him according to his family and people that are close to him."
There was no suggestion of foul play in the disappearance, he said.
Hutt Valley Police are asking anyone with any information or sightings of the missing man to call 04 560 2600 or contact their local police station.
