Invercargill police investigate prison death
Investigations have been launched following the death of a man in his cell at Invercargill Prison.
Prison manager Stuart Davie confirmed a prisoner was found dead in his cell early this week.
Police were called and no staff or other prisoners were injured, Davie said.
The coroner will determine the man's cause of death.
''Our thoughts and condolences are with this prisoner's family and friends," Davie said.
Southland area commander Inspector Lane Todd said police were investigating on behalf of the coroner.
