Taking a dip with dolphins

PLAYFUL POD: Dolphins sighted from Takapuna Beach on Auckland's North Shore.

When Zac Madden rocked up to work this morning he had no idea his day would involve a dip in the sea with dolphins.

But he didn't want to miss the opportunity when a pod of dolphins visited Takapuna Beach on Auckland's North Shore.

"As soon as I saw the dolphins I ripped off my shirt, ran to the end of the rocks and dived in," Madden said.

"They were very friendly, kept staring at me and checking me out."

His day got even better when he was invited by a neighbouring resident to heat up in their spa pool.

The 25-year-old is a construction worker for the Brett Ave pocket park in Takapuna.

The pod of about nine dolphins kept morning walkers and neighbouring residents entertained for more than two hours.
