Petone pensioner Tupulaga ''Peter'' Talalelei remains missing following a Search and Rescue effort yesterday.

The 300-metre radius search centred around the boarding house failed to locate Talelelei, coordinator Acting Sergeant Matthew Wheble said.

However the operation yielded accounts from some people who claimed to have seen Talalelei early on in the period he went missing.

Police had begun interviewing the potential witnesses yesterday, Wheble said.Talalelei, also known as Tala or Talafou , disappeared after being discharged from Hutt Hospital on July 12.

The 70-year-old was last seen in the communal kitchen at his upper Jackson St boarding house by a fellow resident at 2am on July 13.

Wheble thanked Hutt Valley volunteers and Petone residents for their help in yesterday's search.
