Car chase ends in arrest

A man wanted in connection with a stabbing led police on a car chase along an Auckland motorway this afternoon before being arrested.

Police said that about 5pm police and ambulance were called to an address in Redoubt Road in Flat Bush in South Auckland where a person was reported to have been stabbed. As police were preparing to enter the address the suspect for the stabbing left in a car.

Police tried to stop the car but the driver fled and was chased along Redoubt Road towards the Southern Motorway.

Police said the driver traveled north on the motorway before stopping near the Otahuhu interchange where he was arrested.

One person at the Redoubt Road address was found to have minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Counties-Manukau police are interviewing the driver of the car, and no further details regarding the incident are currently available.
