Police have arrested three young people in relation to the alleged arson attack that destroyed four classrooms and the library at Paraparaumu School last night.
Detective Inspector George Faalogo, Kapiti Mana CIB said the fire started around 7.15pm and caused extensive damage to one of the school blocks.
The school is celebrating its 125th anniversary in November and lost all their old photos and archives in the blaze.
Three young people will appear in Porirua Youth Court but the appearance date is yet to be confirmed.
The New Zealand Fire Service and police investigators have completed a scene examination at the school today.
Police are advising the community that the school will be closed this week with classes resuming next week.
While one of the buildings was destroyed, outer buildings are still intact, he said, which enable the school and teachers to welcome students back next Monday.
