Bay of Plenty rugby mascot Hori BOP was searching for a Jimmy's pie and a cheese roll after he made it to Invercargill.

The alter-ego of Tauranga resident Terry Leaming had been hitch-hiking to Invercargill since Wednesday and made it to town on Thursday night ahead of last night's big game against the Southland Stags.

Yesterday, while on his pie and cheese roll search, he ran into fellow Tauranga resident Brendan Horan, who is in the city for tonight's Fight for Kidz.

Leaming had booked an extra night's accommodation in Invercargill to put his "180kg frame" behind supporting Horan in his charity fight, he said.

"Tell Tim Shadbolt I want one of those deep-fried cheese rolls couriered down from Gore," Leaming said.
