A woman was airlifted to hospital with chest injuries following a car crash in South Taranaki this morning.
Emergency services and the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter were called to the scene, on State Highway 3 north of Te Roti, just after 9am.
St John Spokesman Ian May said the 58-year-old woman suffered moderate chest injuries when the car she was driving left the road, rolled down a 30m bank and ended up in a swamp.
She was cut from the car by firefighters and treated at the scene by St John paramedics before being flown to Taranaki Base Hospital, where she is now in a stable condition.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by police.
