HAVE SOME CAKE: John Boscawen of the ACT party received a lamington to the head at a Mt Albert candidate debate.

A candidate in the Mt Albert by-election was crowned with a lamington during a debate today.

ACT Party candidate John Boscowin was speaking at Unitec during a candidates' debate when a man walked up to him, Stacey Knott of the In Unison student magazine said.

"The guy just came up and put it on his head," she said.

He kept talking and the lamington attacker walked back into the audience.

He said he represented a group called "People Before Profit".

Mr Boscowin kept speaking and the lamington fell off his head.

National Party candidate Melissa Lee wiped his head when he sat down.
