Boy racers attack airport security officer

Boy racers have attacked a lone female aviation security officer at Christchurch Airport.
The officer was conducting a patrol at the Pound Road of the airport last night when she came across ``quite a few boy racers'', police said.
As the woman drove through the crowd, bottles were thrown smashing three windows of her vehicle, Inspector Dave Lowry said.
An Aviation Security spokesman said the woman rounded a bend in the road and found herself among a group of boy racers consisting of approximately 100 vehicles .
"Before the officer could retreat the Aviation Security Service vehicle was blocked in by vehicles and people and then attacked. Three of the windows were smashed, including the drivers window."
The incident, reminiscent of the attack on a Christchurch police officer earlier this year who had windows smashed and was allegedly shot at by a group of boy racers in southern Christchurch, would have been a "frightening experience", Lawry said.
Police minister Judith Collins introduced a bill to parliament targeting boy racers on Tuesday.
Police are investigating.
