A 57-year-old man has died as a result of injuries he received in a violent incident in Northland two weeks ago.
Sam Williams died in Auckland Hospital on Saturday following the incident at a rural house south of Kaikohe about 6.30pm on August 11.
Two other men suffered moderate injuries following the incident, which reportedly started when two men allegedly arrived at the house of a third man, who was known to them.
A fight then ensued in which the occupant of the house was believed to have overpowered the other two men.
A 61-year-old man appeared in Kaikohe District Court on August 13 charged with aggravated burglary. He was remanded in custody and will reappear tomorrow.
Police said investigations were continuing and no decisions on whether any further charges would be laid against the 61-year-old or anybody else had been made.
