A few marquees at Toast Martinborough had apparently taken off, Sergeant Mark Oliver, of central police communications, said.
No injuries had been reported, he said.
The event attracts about 10,000 people.
The MetService issued a severe weather warning for the higher parts of Wairarapa and Wellington this morning, anticipating gusts up to 120kmh.
