Pilot injured after glider hits electric fence

A glider pilot has been seriously hurt after he crashed into an electric fence on the Hauraki Plains.
Police say the accident happened at around 4pm when the glider crashed into a paddock in Kaikahu Rd.
The pilot was trapped in the glider and it took emergency services more than two hours before the pilot was flown by helicopter to Waikato Hospital at around 6.30pm where he is in critical condition.
Inspector Lou Alofa said he man received a shock from the electric fence and suffered burns and nerve damage to his neck and one side of his body.
