Two cars have been driven into water in unrelated incidents within 10 minutes of each other.
Wellington police said they received a call at 1.02pm after a passerby spotted a car with a man sitting on its roof in the harbour just north of Eastbourne.
Eight minutes later, there was a report of a car going into the Waikanae River at Otaihanga Domain near Paraparaumu.
The male driver was not believed to be injured.
Emergency services are still at the scene.
