New Zealander Nigel Richards lost his world Scrabble crown in the final of the 2009 world championship at Johor Bahra in Malaysia.
Richards, a Christchurch engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, won the world title at Dallas last year but was beaten 3-1 in a best of five final by Pakorn Nemitrmansuk of Thailand yesterday.
