Northland car crash claims one life

One person is dead and three others injured in a single vehicle smash on State Highway 1 in Northland this morning.
Three others were injured in the crash, which happened at Mata, 22km southeast of Whangarei.
It was unclear how serious their injuries were.
Fire Service northern communications centre shift manager Dallas Ramsay said emergency services were called to the scene at 5.33am.
When they arrived they found a car turned upside down in a dry ditch just off the road.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane but police said it was returned to two lanes by 10am.
