Newspaperman vandal caught on camera

A Waikato newspaper publisher could soon be world famous on the internet after a security camera captured footage of him deliberately scratching a former advertiser's car.
In a one-minute clip posted on YouTube by user "whitewiggles'', Your Cambridge News owner Mark Nogaj is shown strolling past the Ford Falcon and running a key down its side leaving a lengthy scratch.
The video, apparently taken on the morning of October 1, had been viewed 238 times this morning.
Sergeant Gordon Grantham of Cambridge police said the security camera footage had been available to police, but he was not aware it was on the internet.
Nogaj pleaded guilty to one charge of wilful damage in the Hamilton District Court on November 3, and had the case deferred to the Tokoroa District Court where his counsel, Arama Ngapo-Lipscombe, yesterday sought a discharge without conviction.
She said Nogaj wanted to apologise to the victim through restorative justice.
Community Magistrate Lesley Jensen remanded Nogaj at large to reappear on January 25.
