An unwitting millionaire could be holding on to a Lotto Powerball ticket worth $4 million, NZ Lotteries chief executive Todd McLeay says.

The lucky ticket from last Saturday's draw was bought from Mairangi Bay Dairy on the North Shore and NZ Lotteries suggested anyone who bought a ticket there double checked their numbers.

"The ticket won a Powerball prize of $3m and a Lotto First Division prize of $1m so it will be a double celebration for the winner when they come forward," Mr McLeay said.

The ticket is valid for 12 months.
