Five intoxicated people escaped a burning house in inner city Christchurch this afternoon.
Witnesses saw a drunk naked man climb down a fire escape from the top floor of the house which was consumed with thick smoke and flames.
Meanwhile, occupants of the house were standing on the street screaming for others still inside the property to "get out".
Firefighters said everyone was accounted for, and some occupants were being looked after by St John Ambulance.
