Police seek BMW connected to assault-theft

A police pursuit of a stolen car in Porirua, north of Wellington, tonight has ended in a crash.
The stolen BMW was taken after its female owner was seriously assaulted in suburban Newlands between 7.30 and 8.30pm.
Police spotted the car on Mana Esplanade in Porirua and pursued it briefly before the driver lost control and crashed near the Ulric Street and State Highway One roundabout in Plimmerton.
The car continued a short distance before stopping, police said.
No one was injured in the crash and the male driver was assisting police.
