The price of petrol fell this afternoon, with Shell leading a 3 cent decrease at the pump.
The fall brought the cost of 91 octane to $1.65.9 and high octane petrol to $1.72.9 at Shell petrol stations.
The price of diesel is unchanged at $1.07.9.
All the major petrol companies have followed suit:
- Caltex's prices are in line with Shell;
- Gull's prices are now $1.64.9 for 91 and $1.76.9 for 98 octane;
- BP's prices are now $1.65.9 for 91 octane and $1.73.9 for 95 octane.
Shell said the price drop reflects a decrease in the cost of product and a strengthening New Zealand dollar.
