A body has been found near the tracks of the North Island Main Trunk Line at Takanini in South Auckland.
Police say the body was found at 5am today.
Police and ambulance were called to the train station at Takanini following the discovery.
The line has been closed and delays are expected for commuter services in South Auckland.
Police are investigating the identity of the dead person and the circumstances of the death.
