Cyclist killed in truck collision
A 19-year-old German tourist on a cycling holiday is dead after a collision with a truck in the Rangitikei this morning.
Sergeant Marc Clausen, of police communications, said the crash occurred on State Highway 3, 4km north of Bulls, at 11.50am.
The cyclist died at the scene. The truck driver was unhurt but shaken.
Mr Clausen said crash investigators were at the scene, but the road had been kept open.
Police said the cyclist was a 19-year-old German woman who appeared to have been on a cycling holiday around New Zealand. Interpol is arranging for her family in Germany to be advised of her death.
