A car was driven down a bank in Wellington this morning, ending up against the side of a house.

The male driver was unhurt in the accident, which happened just after 8am.

The car fell about three metres down the bank on Garden Rd in Northland, a fire service spokesman said.

The house was undamaged.

Later in the morning, five people were taken to hospital after a bus and a minibus collided on Oriental Pde.

One lane was closed after the nose-to-tail accident, which happened around 11.35am.

Two people had moderate injuries and three had minor injuries.

The bus had been following the minibus when the two vehicles collided, a police spokeman said.

Police said sand was being laid on the road to cover oil leaks. The lane was expected to re-open not long after 1.30pm.
