Woman hospitalised after car hits tree

A woman has received serious injuries after her car struck a tree this morning near Warkworth.
The crash happened at 7.30am on State Highway one about a kilometre north of Kaipara Flats Road.
Emergency services attended the scene and the woman was airlifted to hospital.
A police spokesman said he understood the woman's injuries were not life threatening but could provide no further details.
Traffic is being diverted into Woodcocks Road then onto West Coast Road and finally onto SH16.
