Paua diver dies in Hawke's Bay

A 40-year-old man has died while diving for paua in Hawke's Bay this afternoon.

The man was diving alone at Blackhead Point, in southern Hawke's Bay, when he was found unconscious in the water by a friend about 1.30pm, a Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman said.

He died at the scene.
