Emergency services have contained a large fire in a central city warehouse in Christchurch this evening.
The fire, at the New Zealand Cars Online building on Allen Street, which is tenanted by Wicked Campers, burned rapidly and provided a spectacular sight for motorists as the sun set over the city.
Smoke cast a pall across much of South Christchurch.
No-one was injured in the blaze. The Fire Service is investigating the cause.
It is not yet known how much damage was done.
Roads around the building remain cordoned off, with police advising motorists to avoid Madras between Moorhouse and St Asaph and Manchester St in the central city.
The Fire Service is concerned about asbestos in the ceiling.
