Traffic is backing up on Wellington's urban motorway after two cars crashed this evening.
One northbound lane of State Highway 1 was blocked by the accident, which happened at 4.20pm, a police communications spokesman said.
The crash was about 500 metres north of The Terrace tunnel.
Tow trucks were on the way to remove the cars.
Both lanes should be open soon, police said.
No one was hurt in the crash.
