Toddler drowns chasing ball

A 15-month-old Kaikohe boy is thought to have drowned in a cattle trough while trying to retrieve a rugby ball, police say.
The freak accident happened on Saturday morning.
A number of police vehicles, an ambulance and a hearse attended a property at Omapere Rd at about 11.30am.
A post mortem is due to be carried out.
