Man dies after Waikato car crash

A man has died after a car crashed into a bus shelter and telegraph pole and finished up in the garden of a house in Mangakino in the Waikato early today.
The man, who died at the scene and sole passenger, who were not wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the car, a Mitsubishi Legnum.
A police spokesperson said the driver was travelling on Rangatira Drive towards Waipapa Road when he failed to negotiate a moderate right hand bend at 1.13am.
Crash investigators were continuing with their inquiries into the cause of the crash.
Police have not yet released any information about the condition of the passenger.
The name of the man is expected to be released tomorrow.
