A former Air New Zealand flight attendant is trying to get her job back after being sacked for sending expletive-laden text messages to her ex-boyfriend - one of the airline's pilots.

In the texts, she accused the man of sabotaging her job by talking about their former relationship, but is claiming they were sent from her private phone outside of work hours and it was  a personal matter, The Herald on Sunday reported.

The 42-year-old woman met the man in 2009 but called off the relationship after discovering he was seeing another woman.

But when she got a job with Air NZ last year, she pleaded with him to "put this behind us".

However, the woman claims she was made to feel uncomfortable by the pilot's friends and relatives, resulting in an argument with another flight attendant while on a domestic flight and gossip spreading around the company.

She then sent the pilot a text asking him, "Am I going to be treated like s**t on this job?"

She then followed up with two more: "Oh and I don't take kindly to being the wrath of any c**** family girlfriends" and "Oh yeh.. Think your both not men! But it is a job. So dont f**k it for me c***."

She claimed that over the next few months the pilot and other staff requested not to fly with her.

Air New Zealand threw out her claims of harassment and bullying and she was later sacked.

She is now taking her grievance to the Employment Court.

Air New Zealand today would not comment, a spokeswoman telling NZPA it was an internal matter.
