Body confirmed as that of Polish tramper

A body found in a forest park near Wellington has been confirmed as that of missing Polish tramper Jacek Gryzbowski.

A police spokeswoman said a formal identification of Mr Gryzbowski, 28, was made this afternoon.

His parents flew into Wellington today and were met by police and the Polish ambassador.

"They're naturally quite distressed," the spokeswoman said.

Mr Gryzbowski's body was found in a stream in the Rimutaka Forest Park about 2pm yesterday. He was only equipped for a day tramp when he went into the Rimutaka park last Saturday.
