Office workers are back in the central Wellington office building evacuated this morning over a 1080 scare.
The Fire Service was called to Pastoral House, The Terrace just after 9.30am.
Central communications shift manager David Meikle said firefighters entered the building wearing protective gear and sealed a package, believed to contain the poison 1080, in a container.
The package was mailed to an office on the fourth floor, he said.
NZPA understands the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's mailroom is on the fourth floor of Pastoral House.
Mr Meikle said he was unsure exactly how many people were evacuated, but said it was everyone in the 18-storey building.
