Student suspended after hacking emails

A young hacker has been suspended from his Auckland high school after hacking into other students' emails.
The year 13 student would not be allowed back into Westlake Boys' High on Auckland's North Shore until the end of the year after he hacked into the school's computer system over several weeks and got into other students' emails, The New Zealand Herald reported today.
In the meantime he would stay on the roll, be supported with school materials, and could sit end-of-year examinations.
"The offence was not sufficient to warrant full expulsion," board of trustees' chairman Graham Darlow said.
The school had since upgraded the security on its computer system.
The investigation began last week after a complaint from another student's parent.
"He's a typical, young, computer-savvy person who we understand was doing this more for entertainment than for malice," Mr Darlow said.
