Man dies following workplace accident

A man has died after falling into machinery in Silverdale this afternoon.

Two ambulances were called to the Foundry Rd scene just before 2.30pm.

An ambulance spokeswoman says CPR was performed on the 40-year-old man but he died at the scene.

Police secured the accident site just after 3pm.

They refused to comment on how the accident happened, or what company was involved as the death was now subject to a Department of Labour investigation.

It's understood the man got his arm caught in a lathe.

Police said the man's family have been advised of the death, but the deceased's name won't be released until all family members have been notified.
