Four young men have been charged with offensive behaviour after running naked through three Christchurch schools this morning.
Police were called after the four male high school students, aged 17 and 18, ran through Middleton Grange, St Margaret's College and Christchurch Girls' High.
They were caught in a car on Fendalton Road later in the morning and have been bailed to appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday.
St Margaret's College principal Gillian Simpson said two naked students ran in through one gate and out of the other as the girls were leaving a chapel service.
"The joke was that it happened while the officer from the Education Review Office was here reviewing the school - so that was great timing!"
Ms Simpson put the incident down to the "silly season".
"They were about 17 or 18 so probably in their last year of school - it was probably an end of year dare."
She said they had caused no real harm, but security guards would be placed on the gates to prevent similar incidents for the rest of the term.
