A Wellington superhero spotted biking towards the city along State Highway 2 has been identified - and it's a woman known as Captain Electric.
Commuter Dean Brain snapped a couple of photos of Captain Electric - wearing an orange jumpsuit, white helmet and a white cape emblazoned with a bright orange lightning bolt - on Wednesday but could not offer any insight into who the caped cyclist might be.
After putting the call out to help The Dominion Post identify the mystery cyclist, Anthony Clyde from Electric Bikes got in touch to reveal the cyclist's identity.
The cyclist is Karen O'Leary, the team leader at Adelaide Early Childhood Centre in Newtown, who goes by the moniker Captain Electric.
Ms O'Leary approached Electric Bikes with a proposal to become Wellington's own superhero.
"If I gave her one of our orange Pedego electric bikes she'd become a superhero and bring a bit of fun to the streets of Wellington," Mr Clyde said.
"How could I refuse? So I sent one to our Wellington dealer and they set it up for her. The rest is history."
