A shotgun, clothing and hunting gear belonging to a missing Hamilton hunter have been found on the Waikato river bank near Waipapa Dam, near Mangakino.
LandSAR and police used GPS setting s from dog collar belonging to missing hunter Kevin Hayward to lead them to the clothing this morning.
Mr Hayward, 41, of Ohaupo has not been since he went into the bush near the Waipapa Dam on Monday.
Search co-coordinator Senior Sergeant Barry Shepherd said it was not known why Mr Hayward left the gear on the riverbank.
Search parties from LandSAR are now combing both sides of the riverbank looking for Mr Hayward's whereabouts, he said.
A police dive squad is due to begin searching the river tomorrow morning.
All five of Mr Hayward's hunting dogs have been recovered.
