An event to celebrate the life of Margaret Mahy will be held in Hagley Park next week.

Mahy's family will hold the event to pay tribute to one of Christchurch's favourite authors and friends on Wednesday from 2pm to 3.30pm at the Geodome in Hagley Park.

Family members realise that through her life's work and her involvement in the community, Mahy touched the lives of many people in Christchurch and around the country and around the world.

The event will include performances from local school choirs, and reminiscences by friends from the literary and local community.
