An American man sailing solo around New Zealand who was reported missing by his family last week has been found safe and well in Picton.
Detective Sergeant Linda Simpson of the New Zealand police missing persons unit says 26-year-old Sean D'Epagnier was located by Picton police on his sailboat Alexandra in Waikawa Bay about 8pm on Saturday.
Police were alerted by the United States Embassy late last week, saying they had been contacted by his family who were worried about D'Epagnier.
D'Epagnier arrived in New Zealand on his yacht in November last year and last made contact with his family in late May, saying he was in the Motueka area.
Simpson said D'Epagnier was unaware he had been reported missing and had since contacted his family.
