Six people, including three children, received minor injuries when a school van collided with a car in Waihi.
A St John spokeswoman said four ambulances attended the crash about 3.30pm yesterday and transported the injured to Thames Hospital.
The three children are understood to be special needs students.
Police were unable to immediately provide more information about the crash.
The accident comes a day after a five-year-old boy died after being run over by a school bus in a small town on the South Island's West Coast.
Granity School pupil Mahuri Bettjeman-Manawatu ran in front of the bus after it dropped him off in the town of Hector, witness James Coleman said.
