Police shooting suspect still at large

The man who allegedly fired shots at two West Auckland police officers two days ago was still at large tonight despite an intensive police hunt.

Police say Richard Alan Duthie, 40, of no fixed abode, fired when the officers approached his car which had run into a ditch after being chased by police at 2.20am.

Duthie had been on the run since May, when a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear in Rotorua District Court.

Police described him as armed and dangerous and said he should not be approached.

Duthie, who has addresses throughout the North Island, is a Caucasian, 1.75m tall, of medium to solid build, with sandy coloured hair and a mole on the right side of his nose.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact police on 0800-235556, police said.
