A lucky Lotto player in Tuakau is $5.5 million richer after his or her winning numbers came up.
The winning Lotto Powerball ticket was bought from Tuakau Four Square, south of Auckland, and the prize is made up of $500,000 in First Division winnings and $5m from Powerball First Division.
NZ Lotteries' chief executive Wayne Pickup said that seven new multi-millionaires had been created since the start of this year and that this week's win was a great way to celebrate the start of spring.
Another ticket holder will share in the Lotto First Division winnings, collecting $500,000. That winning ticket was sold at Kings Paper Plus and Toyworld in Otorohanga.
A Strike Four prize of $180,475 was won by a player who bought a ticket from Coastlands Lotto in Paraparaumu.
