A man has been pulled to safety from a raging house fire in Christchurch tonight.
About 6.20pm, emergency services, including police and the Fire Service, responded to the blaze on Barbadoes St near Bealey Ave.
A St John spokesman said the man was taken to Christchurch Hospital with burns and smoke inhalation.
He was in a serious condition, the spokesman said.
A Fire Service spokesman said it was believed the fire started in the kitchen of the house.
He said one of the callers who contacted the Fire Service said a member of the public pulled someone from the burning house.
Three fire crews fought the blaze.
