Motorists cut from wreckage
Motorists had to be cut free from two separate car crashes in Canterbury this evening.
A Fire Service spokesman said two people had to be extricated when a vehicle crashed on Upper Sefton Rd, in Sefton, about 7.39pm.
Fire crews from Rangiora and Woodend attended.
A St John spokesman said two patients with serious injuries and three with moderate injuries were taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital.
Moments earlier fire crews had to cut free the drivers when two vehicles collided near the intersection of Styx Mill Rd and Cavendish Rd, in Casebrook, about 6.45pm.
A St John spokesman said in this incident three patients were taken to Christchurch Hospital.
