Clutha-Southland MP Todd Barclay's Queenstown staffer also resigns
Clutha-Southland MP Todd Barclay is losing another staff member, as his Queenstown-based electorate agent Barbara Swan has also resigned.
Swan tendered her resignation in January, less than a month before Barclay's Gore-based electorate agent Glenys Dickson resigned.
Dickson's resignation was due to an "employment problem" between her and Barclay, the National Party Gore branch secretary Maeva Smith said.
Barclay this week declined to discuss Dickson's resignation because it was an "employment matter".
But he said Swan had resigned "as she is travelling overseas to spend time with her children who live over there as she is about to become a grandma".
"She gave me about 10 weeks notice of her intention to do so."
Swan could not be reached for comment.
In her resignation letter, supplied to Stuff by Barclay, Swan says ``While I have very much enjoyed working in the MP support for the last seven years, I now wish to spend more time travelling and with my family".
She was the Queenstown electorate agent for former Clutha-Southland MP Bill English before doing the same job for Barclay when he became the Clutha-Southland MP in 2014.
When Barclay was asked if he had fallen out with both Dickson and Swan, he said: "No, not at all."
Dickson declined to comment.
