A house fire in Thames overnight posed an extreme risk to neighbouring properties, firefighters say.
The alarm was raised at 20 minutes past midnight and four appliances were sent to the house, which was empty at the time, Fire Service northern communications centre shift manager Jaron Phillips said.
The house was well ablaze when firefighters arrived, and while they were there the building collapsed.
They were able to prevent fire spreading to neighbouring houses, Phillips said.
A fire investigator would examine the scene today.
