A man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Rangiora today.
Police attended the scene on Coldstream Rd at about 2.20pm and St John's was alerted at 2.19pm.
The 49-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other occupants in the car and police believed no other vehicles were involved.
The crash could have been a result of a medical condition, the police said.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
